It has come to our attention that NWACC's Director of Nursing, Elaine Halloway, and her nursing staff up and quit half way through the Fall 2012 semester because the Dean of Allied Health, Mary Ross, is impossible to work for and impossible to work with. Mary Ross is a bully who enjoys ganging up on and victimizing individuals who she feels inferior to or who are far more intelligent than she is. The proper psychological term for this type of personality is a "narcissistic hater". If you are not sure what this definition entails, just Google it and more than enough information will pop up.
Because of the internal strife between Dean Ross and Director Halloway, those who are forgotten about are the nursing students who pay for their education and for the salaries of those employed at NWACC. Our understanding is that this past semester was a complete and total disaster.
Additionally, Mary Ross has her prized bully victims who she selects each semester, one from each allied health program. These victims are the brightest shining stars who Dean Ross resents. Consequently, Ross destroys their education, their future careers in the medical industry, as well as their reputations.
We are currently wondering why and how Dean Ross has so much power to carry out her bullying while the CEO's of NWACC turn a blind eye to it and, indeed, condone it. How is it that they continue to allow her to carry on in such a brutal and unprofessional manner? Who is she related to and who is she connected to? We assume she is well connected for her to continue on with her "academic mobbing".
Arkansas tax payers, we pay a millage to NWACC, which means that NWACC not only belongs to the students who pay their way, but to us as well. It is time that we take a stand with this corrupt institution and make some positive changes.
Frightening prospect. Would not allow my children to attend NWACC. Don't allow yours to attend.
ReplyDeleteThis semester is another disaster with NWACC's nursing program. All but three students failed the midterm exam due to their unfair testing practices. Where are the proper authorities whose responsibility it is to clean this school up? I say they get rid of the entire chain of command and start over with new, fresh, professional people who will make this a great institution. I'm tired of paying a millage to this school with all their rampant corruption.
ReplyDeleteThese programs are a farce. They put the students through hell. It's like boot camp. Very unnecessary and pointless. They do everything in the world to trip these students up. It's counterproductive to learning.
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to make an example of Dean Mary Ross and fire her. She needs to go ASAP! We all need to take a stand and oust the bad guys. I don't like my tax dollars going to this school.
ReplyDeleteAny person of authority employed at NWACC for a long period of time is suspect to me. They oust the good guys who attempt to make a stand and keep those who support the shananigans of the bullies. NWACC bullies be gone!
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of other places to get your allied health degree. There are many online programs outside the state of Arkansas that you can attend and get a much better education and are treated like a human being. A friend of mine has done this and it has worked out beautifully for him. Although, one of the online schools told him that Arkansas didn't allow Arkansans to go outside the state of Arkansas for an education. This friend promptly called ADHE to inquire and was told, "well, you can, but you're on your own. If you have problems we can't help you". My friend responded with, "you are useless to Arkansas students, so being on my own is exactly what I want!"
ReplyDeleteAs far as nursing goes, it is a pretty difficult profession to study for. What kind of unfair testing nursing practices? This article was pretty scary, but I'm keeping my mind open. I applied to their nursing program too. I've read student testimonials from allnurses and several review sites talking favorably. So basically, there is a bunch of mixed messages of the truth.
ReplyDeleteEnter at your own risk. You've been forewarned. I can assure you that IF you get accepted, they will be the 2 most miserable years of your life. And that is only if you actually make it through the program. There are plenty of other options available to you. You don't have to put yourself through it. Good luck to you, Azure!
DeleteI'm a former student who did not make it through the program due to a number of issues. I take responsibility for my grades but there where things going on behind the scenes involving the staff that affected mine and others performance. The failure rate was excessively high compared to other programs and the workload was absurd. I also notice that more than half of the staff that was working there during my time are now gone. This all occurred about 6 months before this blog entry. I agree with another poster that the students are put through certain labyrinths of unnecessary and pointless exercises. Very counterproductive but I think that's also a mark of the nursing profession in general.
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is that when I was let go, I didn't receive an exit interview, a letter, a handshake, a goodbye, nothing. I would have received a better exit at a minimum wage job. I took it in stride and walked away, but it hurt after dedicating myself to at least a year or more working to get into the program and then the sweat I put into the two semesters I was there. These events made me ashamed to be a Nwacc student and made me seriously rethink my decision to be a nurse.
Sorry to hear about your horrid experience at NWACC. If it makes you feel any better, there are an uncountable amount of other wronged students who were put through the same torture that you were put through. I understand your "shame" of being connected to NWACC. That's how all of their victims feel. Just leave them off your resume and put them out of your life. They aren't worth it.
